Verve, Africa’s leading domestic payments card scheme under the Interswitch Group, has announced Google Play as a strategic partner for the eighth edition of its flagship wellness event series, VerveLife (8.0). The collaboration, unveiled on September 17, 2025, positions Google Play at the forefront of Africa’s biggest fitness and lifestyle festival, expanding its connection to millions of health-conscious consumers across the continent.
According to both brands, the partnership underscores a shared mission to promote healthier, more rewarding lifestyles in Africa. Verve and Google Play say the initiative reflects their commitment to enriching user experiences beyond transactions, providing fitness enthusiasts with new opportunities to engage in high-energy activities, earn rewards, and enjoy a sense of community.
Launched eight years ago, VerveLife has evolved into one of Africa’s most influential fitness platforms, drawing over 14,000 participants annually from West and East Africa. Each edition features high-intensity workouts, dance routines, fitness challenges, and a lively after-party, blending exercise with entertainment to redefine how Africans approach wellness.
Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Interswitch Group, Cherry Eromosele, said the 2025 edition — themed “Elev8” — will surpass previous ones. She revealed that participants will receive complimentary merchandise, exclusive rewards, and special incentives courtesy of Verve and Google Play. The partnership builds on their 2023 collaboration, which enabled Nigerians to pay for apps and services on Google Play and YouTube with Verve cards, expanding digital inclusion and simplifying transactions for millions of Android users.
This year’s VerveLife fitness train will visit Enugu, Ibadan, Abuja, Kampala, and Nairobi before its grand finale at the Eko Convention Center, Lagos, on November 1, 2025. With top instructors, music, and a vibrant community spirit, the event promises to deliver Africa’s ultimate wellness party, blending health, fun, and technology. Anthea Crawford, Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships at Google Play, said the collaboration further supports a more inclusive digital ecosystem for Nigerians and Africans at large.
