Ghanaian Businesses Gain Affordable Cybersecurity with Africa’s First Monthly SIEM Subscription Service
Ghanaian businesses now have access to Africa’s first monthly subscription-based Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) service, thanks to a collaboration between Virtual Infosec Africa (VIA) and global cybersecurity firm Exabeam (formerly LogRhythm). The service promises to make enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible and affordable, addressing one of the continent’s most pressing digital security challenges.
The timing of this launch is critical. In the first quarter of 2025, Africa recorded an average of 3,286 cyberattacks per organization each week—the highest globally, according to Check Point Software Technologies. Ghanaian sectors such as energy, finance, telecommunications, and public services have increasingly been targeted, with nearly one in five breaches disrupting core business operations, INTERPOL’s 2024 African Cyberthreat Assessment reported.
VIA’s CEO, Emmanuel Asiedu Sekyere, explained that the subscription model allows organizations, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to spread costs over time while benefiting from AI-driven threat detection, monitoring, and compliance tools. Hosted at VIA’s managed security site at the National Information Technologies Agency (NITA) in Accra, the service provides local industries with cutting-edge cybersecurity without the high upfront investment typically required.
Beyond business protection, the initiative carries national security implications. As Ghana continues to digitize public services and expand its digital economy, resilient cybersecurity infrastructure is essential to prevent large-scale disruptions, data breaches, and financial losses. “This isn’t just a business solution—it’s a national safeguard,” Asiedu said, highlighting the broader benefits for the country’s digital ecosystem.
For startups and growing enterprises, this service could determine whether they survive or collapse under cyber threats. By reducing risks, companies can maintain operational continuity, protect customer trust, and avoid costly recovery efforts. As Ghanaian organizations embrace digital transformation, VIA and Exabeam’s subscription service offers a timely, practical, and scalable solution to one of the modern business world’s greatest challenges.
