The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced that its 302nd Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting will take place later this month in Abuja. According to the official statement on the CBN website, the session is set to begin on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and will continue on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. at the MPC Meeting Room on the 11th floor of the CBN headquarters.

The MPC, which plays a critical role in shaping Nigeria’s monetary policy, is expected to review recent economic trends both domestically and internationally. Key topics on the agenda include interest rate adjustments, inflation control measures, and strategies to ensure financial system stability. Observers anticipate that the committee’s decisions could significantly influence market confidence and economic growth.

Investors and financial analysts are closely monitoring the upcoming meeting for signals on potential interest rate changes. Such decisions directly affect lending rates, borrowing costs, and investment decisions across the country. Historically, MPC announcements have led to immediate reactions in both the stock and currency markets.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian naira showed little movement in currency trading ahead of the MPC session. At the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM), the naira closed slightly stronger at N1,506.08 to the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, compared to N1,506.84 on Monday. In the parallel market, the currency remained steady at N1,520 per dollar, with the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) rate for international transactions also holding firm at N1,520.

As the September meeting approaches, all eyes will be on the CBN for guidance on the country’s monetary direction. Analysts note that any adjustments in interest rates or policy stance could have wide-ranging implications for inflation, consumer spending, and overall investor confidence in Nigeria’s financial system.
