The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has partnered with Google to strengthen Nigeria’s cybersecurity ecosystem and accelerate the country’s digital transformation. The collaboration follows a recent meeting between President Bola Tinubu and Google CEO Sundar Pichai in Paris, France, which paved the way for deeper technology-driven partnerships.
As part of this initiative, NITDA, in collaboration with Google and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), hosted a two-day cybersecurity workshop. The forum was designed to explore opportunities for advancing digital security cooperation, enhancing cyber resilience, and building trust in Nigeria’s digital economy.
According to NITDA, the workshop examined potential areas of partnership that will fortify Nigeria’s digital infrastructure. Stakeholders also discussed ways to strengthen the nation’s ability to tackle emerging cyber threats while creating a safe environment for businesses, government, and individuals in the digital space.
NITDA, established under the National Information Technology Development Act of 2007, is mandated to drive Nigeria’s IT policy, regulate technology practices, and foster sustainable digital development. The agency plays a critical role in promoting innovation, creating regulatory frameworks, and providing a clearinghouse for IT-related projects nationwide.
This latest collaboration with Google highlights Nigeria’s growing commitment to cybersecurity and innovation. Experts believe that such partnerships will not only strengthen the country’s digital resilience but also open up new opportunities for economic growth, skills development, and global competitiveness in the digital economy.
