Truecaller, the global caller identification and spam-blocking platform, has surpassed 100 million monthly active users in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, with Nigeria, Egypt, and South Africa leading its growth. The milestone, recorded in August 2025, marks a 19 percent year-on-year increase in active users across both Android and iOS platforms.

The company attributes this achievement to the rapid expansion of smartphone usage and mobile data penetration in the MEA region. With mobile numbers serving as the primary identifier in these markets, Truecaller’s services have naturally gained traction among individuals and businesses seeking to enhance communication security.

Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Truecaller’s chief executive officer, highlighted the similarities between MEA and other mobile-first markets such as India, where the platform has experienced strong organic growth. He noted that the company’s mission remains focused on solving communication problems and ensuring trust in everyday interactions.

Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Ghana, and Jordan rank among Truecaller’s largest MEA markets, with the app installed on 20 to 45 percent of connected smartphones in these countries. In Nigeria, where spam calls and fraudulent messages are widespread, the app has become an essential tool for users looking to block scams and verify contacts.

Looking ahead, Truecaller plans to deepen its organisational capabilities and partnerships within the region, reinforcing its confidence in the long-term growth potential of the MEA market. Jhunjhunwala reaffirmed the company’s commitment to building trust in communication and expanding its reach as smartphone adoption continues to rise.
