Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has reported an impressive 95% implementation of the 2024 FCT budget, marking a historic milestone for the administration. Wike shared this achievement after inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja on April 14, 2025. He praised the progress of various projects, noting that the 2024 budget has seen a high level of completion, with no project left untouched. The extension of the FCT’s budget until June 2025 has provided the necessary funds to maintain momentum.
Wike highlighted the efficient and timely execution of the FCT’s ongoing projects, which include significant developments like the renovation of the Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC) and the extension of Obafemi Awolowo Way (N5). He emphasized that contractors are meeting expectations and that the administration is fulfilling its financial obligations to ensure projects stay on track. The minister also expressed confidence that the 2025 statutory budget, already submitted to the National Assembly, would be approved without delay, enabling further progress.
The FCT Minister noted that the N16 Interchange project at NICON Junction would be completed and inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025. Additionally, the N5 road project, part of the FCT’s infrastructure expansion, is expected to be ready by the end of May. Both projects are funded under the current 2024 statutory budget, which runs through June, with Wike underscoring the administration’s commitment to completing them as scheduled.
Wike also commended the near-completion of key road networks and interchanges, including the Gishiri village road network and the critical N16 Interchange that will improve connectivity between Maitama and Katampe districts. He reaffirmed that every project listed in the 2024 budget has been initiated, marking a new chapter of progress for the FCT as it continues to enhance its infrastructure and public services.
