First City Monument Bank (FCMB) is receiving widespread praise for its recent Business Empowerment, Sustainability and Training (BEST) Masterclass, which delivered hands-on training to entrepreneurs across southwestern Nigeria. Held between March 12 and 21, 2025, the programme impacted participants from Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Kwara states, covering topics like digital marketing, business planning, financial management, and sustainable growth strategies. It also offered free business registration services through a partnership with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), giving attendees an added push to formalise their ventures.
Entrepreneurs who attended the sessions shared how the training reshaped their mindset and operations. Jide Olaniyi from Kwara said the workshop deepened his understanding of business structure and digital tools. In Ogun, Patricia Simisola highlighted how the CAC registration support gave her the motivation to register her business officially, calling it “a real bonus.” Many participants agreed that the sessions delivered more than expected, both in content and in practical takeaways.
Beyond the formal sessions, participants valued the opportunity to interact with fellow entrepreneurs and industry experts. Dolapo Olayiwola from Oyo described how the programme changed her decision-making approach and clarified her growth plans. FCMB’s Divisional Head of Business Banking, George Ogbonnaya, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to building long-term, scalable businesses through knowledge and mentorship, not just financial support.
Since launching in 2018, the BEST programme has trained hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs nationwide. FCMB plans to continue expanding the initiative, offering even more robust support systems that go beyond funding. With the addition of real-world workshops and expert-led discussions, the bank is helping entrepreneurs like Ifeoma Ozoemena of Ondo feel empowered and confident in their business journey, aligning with FCMB’s vision of driving inclusive economic growth.
