The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced an impressive performance in the first quarter of the year, surpassing its tax revenue target of GH₵39 billion by collecting GH₵41 billion. This marks a positive start to the year, with the GRA surpassing expectations and showcasing growth in tax collection across various regions.
According to Anthony Sarpong, the Acting Commissioner-General of the GRA, the performance was commendable, with some regions even exceeding their assigned targets. The Ashanti Region, in particular, stood out for surpassing its revenue goal. Sarpong expressed his satisfaction with the overall results, highlighting that the performance was a collective achievement across the country.
Sarpong further emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum throughout the year. He noted that the successful tax collection in the first quarter was just the beginning, and stressed the need for continued effort from all regions to meet the national revenue target by the end of the year.
With this strong start, the GRA is optimistic about achieving the full-year revenue goal, reinforcing the importance of consistent tax compliance and efforts across Ghana’s regions to ensure national fiscal stability.
