Fuel prices in Ghana have increased for the third consecutive time in 2025, with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) adjusting their prices upward in the first pricing window of February. Shell has raised the price of petrol from GH₵15.59 to GH₵16.23 per litre and increased diesel from GH₵15.79 to GH₵16.20 per litre. Meanwhile, Star Oil kept petrol prices unchanged at GH₵14.99 but raised diesel prices from GH₵14.99 to GH₵15.37 per litre.
The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) had previously anticipated slight price hikes, attributing them to rising global crude oil prices and the continued depreciation of the Ghanaian Cedi.
Despite the price hikes, the Acting CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Edudzi Tameklo, has assured consumers that measures are being put in place to stabilize fuel prices and minimize future fluctuations.
The price increases reflect ongoing economic challenges, with both global factors and local currency devaluation contributing to the upward pressure on fuel prices in Ghana.
