USTDA and Meridiam Join Forces for African Infrastructure Development

The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and Paris-based Meridiam SAS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance infrastructure investment in sub-Saharan Africa. The partnership aims to mobilize $1.5 billion in total investments by leveraging USTDA’s $20 million in project preparation assistance over the next five years. This collaboration focuses on fostering high-quality, transformative infrastructure development in the region.

The MOU facilitates enhanced cooperation, emphasizing project preparation tools like feasibility studies and technical assistance to target industries such as energy, transportation, and public infrastructure. By jointly prioritizing projects and sharing information, USTDA and Meridiam aim to fast-track decision-making and project implementation, significantly expanding USTDA’s African portfolio.

Meridiam’s CEO, Thierry Déau, highlighted the collaboration’s potential to deliver sustainable development projects across Africa, while USTDA Director Enoh Ebong emphasized the agency’s expertise in preparing projects aligned with African priorities. This strategic partnership is poised to unlock innovative opportunities and drive progress in critical sectors across the continent.
