The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has introduced the B’Odogwu Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platform to streamline the import duty payment, enhancing trade facilitation and transparency at the ports. To date, 23 banks have been integrated into the system, which aims to optimize revenue collection. Speaking at the Port Terminal and Multi-purpose Services Limited (PTML) Customs Command in Lagos, Comptroller Tenny Daniyan highlighted the platform’s positive impact on revenue generation, noting that the PTML Command, as the pilot project, achieved its highest-ever monthly revenue collection of N44.9 billion in November 2024.

While acknowledging the initial challenges encountered with the new system, Daniyan expressed confidence in its long-term potential and the NCS’s commitment to resolving any issues. He encouraged agents who have not yet registered on the platform to do so, emphasizing that the system connects all stakeholders in a unified manner, fostering greater transparency and efficiency. Daniyan also pointed out that while some agents are still adjusting to the new platform’s requirements, an implementation team is in place to ensure minimal disruption.

The NCS has now fully disconnected from the NICIS II system at the PTML Command, marking a complete transition to the B’Odogwu platform. Daniyan assured stakeholders that the system would be rolled out to other ports, including Tin Can, only once operations at PTML are running smoothly. This phased approach is intended to ensure that the platform’s implementation is efficient and effective across all ports.
