Pensioners Seek Redress Over PTAD Payment Issues

Pensioners across various sectors have raised complaints about discrepancies in their payments handled by the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD). Jiji, a retiree from the Lower Benue River Basin, claims PTAD incorrectly calculated his years of service and recent 20% pension increment. Similarly, Dangerh, another retiree, alleges errors in the adjustment of his pension, receiving less than expected since September 2024. Anonymous pensioners have also reported delays in receiving their September and October pensions.

Ayodele, a retiree from the Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis Research, laments significant deductions from his pension since October 2023, allegedly for overpayments that were not properly communicated. Despite several attempts to resolve the issue through PTAD’s offices, he claims his concerns remain unaddressed, leaving him in financial distress. He urges PTAD to reverse the deductions and refund the amount owed to him.

The Nation newspaper has pledged to intervene by forwarding these complaints to PTAD. It advises pensioners like Jiji, Dangerh, and Ayodele to monitor its pension page every Wednesday for updates on resolutions and relevant pension news. These issues highlight the ongoing challenges retirees face with payment inconsistencies and inadequate communication from PTAD.
