The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has called on the Nigerian government and citizens to support the Dangote Refinery, emphasizing the economic potential it holds for the country. After a tour of the multi-billion-dollar facility, MAN President Otunba Francis Meshioye praised the refinery’s capacity to meet Nigeria’s fuel needs, reduce imports, and position the nation as a major energy exporter. He described the refinery as a source of national pride and a groundbreaking project that could inspire additional investments in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
Meshioye highlighted the Dangote Refinery’s capability to process 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day, which would satisfy domestic fuel demands while allowing for surplus export, generating valuable foreign exchange. He advocated for the government to provide Dangote Refinery with all necessary crude oil and operational support to optimize its productivity. With facilities that ensure high-quality production standards and minimize environmental harm, the refinery is seen as an industrial landmark that could catalyze job creation and stimulate local economies.
MAN pledged to advocate for the refinery’s needs with government agencies, underscoring its vital role in enhancing Nigeria’s energy security and supporting manufacturing growth. By providing reliable and affordable energy, the refinery could significantly improve the manufacturing sector’s capacity utilization and productivity. Meshioye noted that the project exemplifies the positive impact of investment and innovation, setting a standard for other industrial initiatives across Africa.
