The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of bulk power supply to several states in Northern Nigeria after a prolonged outage. According to spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, electricity was successfully restored to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe at 4:56 p.m. on Wednesday, following repairs to the 330 kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line.
TCN confirmed that its engineers are now preparing to repair a second vandalized 330 kV transmission line to further restore power across other affected regions. The company has assured that all necessary materials for the repairs are available and that work will commence once the site is secured for the safety of personnel.
As part of ongoing restoration efforts, teams of linesmen will patrol the operational 330 kV line to prevent additional issues while repairs on the second line progress. TCN remains committed to ensuring reliable power supply as it addresses the challenges posed by vandalism and infrastructure maintenance.
