The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is partnering with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to enhance cross-border trade for small businesses.

This collaboration aims to boost local production and ease trade processes for SMEs, as announced by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, during a meeting in Abuja.

Adeniyi revealed that a special SMEDAN team will be stationed at the NCS office to assist SMEs with cross-border trade.

This move is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s economy, given that SMEs play a significant role in job creation and contribute to the country’s informal sector.

The Director-General of SMEDAN, Charles Oidi, praised the NCS for their commitment to supporting SMEs and pledged to continue improving the relationship between SMEs and government agencies.

Oidi also emphasized SMEDAN’s commitment to removing obstacles hindering SMEs’ growth in Nigeria.
