The Presidency has clarified that President Bola Tinubu has not requested Yemi Cardoso to resign from his position as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
This statement was issued by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, dismissing reports of such a directive as false.
Onanuga, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, labeled the news as unfounded.
The reports had alleged that Tinubu asked Cardoso to step down due to dissatisfaction with his handling of the country’s economic challenges, particularly the stability of the naira.
However, Onanuga refuted these claims, assuring the public that no such resignation has been requested.
