Cyber criminals are increasingly targeting Nigerian businesses, with over 586,000 threats detected in the first half of 2024.

According to Cybervergent, a cybersecurity firm, these threats involve advanced techniques, such as custom malware and phishing, aimed at various sectors including public administration and telecommunications.

The firm’s Security Operations Center (SOC) reported significant activity, including the protection of 19,920 endpoints and resolution of over 226,000 incidents through automation.

High-profile cyber-espionage groups like Gelsemium and Equation Group are among the key attackers, known for their sophisticated methods and targeting critical infrastructure.

Experts emphasize the need for strong cybersecurity measures to combat these threats effectively.

With cyber-espionage groups and ransomware attacks on the rise, businesses must enhance their digital defenses to prevent data breaches and ensure operational security.
