Nigeria, Benin Republic open dry port trade office in Kano

Nigeria and Benin Republic have jointly opened the Tsamiya Dry Port Trade Office in Kano State to enhance regional trade and economic integration.

The opening ceremony, held at the new office in Kano’s GRA area, marks a significant step towards reopening the Segbana-Tsamiya border in Kebbi State.

The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, represented by Assistant Comptroller Sambo Dangaladima, emphasized the importance of this office in facilitating trade and streamlining business processes.

The establishment of the trade office in Kano, a major commercial hub, underscores its role in boosting local industries and aligning with the Federal Government’s goals of economic growth and food security.

The office will also support the operationalization of an export terminal, benefiting local businesses and strengthening economic ties between Nigeria and Benin Republic.

Director of Customs Authority of Benin, Imorou Idrissou, praised the efforts of both countries’ presidents in enhancing trade relations.

He highlighted that the new trade office will facilitate ease of business for Kano traders in Benin, improve cross-border trade, and leverage ICT solutions for better documentation and tracking of goods.
