The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) is preparing to implement an advanced electronic call-up system at the Onne Port complex, following approval from the Federal Executive Council.
This modernization effort, announced by NPA’s Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, aims to automate truck traffic management at the port by the end of the current quarter.
The system is being developed by Callup Technology Services Limited and Forge Concepts Limited and will integrate with the Port Community System (PCS) and the forthcoming National Single Window (NSW).
Dr. Dantsoho, a former Port Manager at Onne, emphasized the importance of incorporating sustainable practices and alternative energy sources in the new system.
Onne Port, known as the largest Oil & Gas logistics hub in West and Central Africa, has seen significant growth in vessel and cargo traffic, partly due to investor-friendly strategies initiated during Dr. Dantsoho’s tenure.
