NSITF Targets One Million Annual Registration, Settles Over 100,000 Claims

The Managing Director and CEO of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Mr. Oluwaseun Faleye, announced that the Fund has successfully processed and paid claims to 103,292 beneficiaries as of July 2023, including 111 individuals who received prosthetics.

Speaking at a two-day retreat in Lagos, Faleye emphasized the NSITF’s commitment to employee safety, reducing workplace accidents, and ensuring compliance with legal standards.

The retreat, themed “Building a Stronger NSITF,” aimed to engage stakeholders in strategic planning and problem-solving to revitalize the Fund’s operations.

Under Faleye’s leadership, the NSITF has focused on promoting workplace safety through Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) initiatives, benefiting over 25,000 registered employers.

The Fund is also involved in amending the National Safety and Health Council Bill and aims to align with international standards set by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Social Security Administration (ISSA).

Senator Diket Satso Plang and Hon. Adegboyega Adefarati, Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Employment, Labour, and Productivity, expressed their support for the NSITF’s transformation efforts.

They praised Faleye’s leadership and stressed the importance of automation and digital innovation in enhancing the Fund’s operations and ensuring long-term sustainability.
