The hacking attempt led to a temporary disruption of the bank’s online services, causing concerns and media reports about potential website cloning and data interception.
In a statement released on Thursday, GTBank clarified that the attempt to hack the website was unsuccessful.
The bank assured customers that its website was not cloned and emphasized that no customer data was at risk, as it does not store such information on its site.
The statement reassured stakeholders that the bank’s information security team is actively working to restore the website’s domain settings.
