PTML Nigeria, the largest Ro/Ro multipurpose port terminal in West Africa, has achieved a significant milestone by establishing itself as a vital logistics hub for transshipping vehicles to Europe.

In July 2024, the port welcomed the Grimaldi vessel “Grande Houston,” which unloaded 5,489 new vehicles from China, setting a new record for vehicle transshipment in West Africa.

The efficient operation resulted in the discharge of all vehicles in less than three days, and they were reloaded within a week for delivery to Europe and Africa

PTML’s advanced infrastructure and operational excellence have led to its selection by Grimaldi for a new direct Ro/Ro service between China and Nigeria.

The new Ro/Ro service provides a direct, fast, and efficient shipping route between Shanghai and Lagos, enhancing access to Chinese vehicles and equipment.

This development positions PTML and Lagos port as major players in global automotive logistics and is expected to lower import costs, and drive economic growth in Nigeria.
