African Central Bank Governors are gathering in Abuja from August 1-3 to focus on increasing intra-African trade and addressing global financial imbalances.
The meeting, hosted by Nigeria’s Finance Minister Wale Edun, aims to prepare input for the IMF and World Bank’s annual meetings in October.
The conference will discuss how deeper intra-African trade can drive sustainable growth and push for changes in the global financial system, which many African leaders believe unfairly benefits developed nations.
The meeting is expected to also address regional economic challenges and strategies for global financial reform.
Keynote speaker Dr. James Alic Garang, Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, will share insights on integrating financial systems in a challenging global environment.
The gathering highlights ongoing efforts by African leaders to advocate for a fairer global financial system.
