Lafarge Africa Unveils Nigeria’s First Low-Carbon Multipurpose Cement, ECOPlanet Unicem

Lafarge Africa Plc has launched ECOPlanet Unicem, Nigeria’s first low-carbon multipurpose cement, with a 30 percent reduction in CO2 emissions.

This innovation, produced at the Mfamosing plant in Cross River State, underscores Lafarge Africa’s commitment to sustainable building solutions and aims to double its market presence by the year’s end.

At the launch event in Enugu, Group Managing Director/CEO Lolu Alade-Akinyemi emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainability and innovation.

He highlighted that ECOPlanet Unicem is designed to redefine construction’s environmental impact while offering superior performance for various applications, including infrastructure projects and residential buildings.

Commercial Director Gbenga Onimowo added that ECOPlanet Unicem maintains Unicem’s reputation for reliability while promoting green products in Nigeria. Globally available in over 35 markets, ECOPlanet supports advanced sustainability certifications and uses innovative low-emission raw materials and alternative fuels to further reduce its carbon footprint.
