The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has advised newly inducted Accounting Technicians to adhere to the five fundamental principles of the accounting profession.
Speaking at the 60th induction ceremony of the Association of Accounting Technicians West Africa (AATWA), ICAN President Chief Davidson Alaribe welcomed 828 new Associate Accounting Technicians (AATs) into the institute.
Alaribe emphasized the importance of accuracy, integrity, and professionalism. He reminded the inductees to consistently uphold integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, professional behavior, and professional competence and due care in their careers. He also noted that ICAN has strict disciplinary measures for any professional misconduct.
The president encouraged the new AATs to use the Association’s Code of Ethics, Constitution, and By-Laws as their guide. He also quoted Jim Rohn, highlighting the influence of one’s close associates on their professional journey.
