Samsung Electronics and representatives of its largest workers’ union in South Korea, currently on strike over pay and benefits, held talks on Tuesday that ended without a resolution, according to the union.
The National Samsung Electronics Union, whose 30,000 members constitute nearly a quarter of Samsung’s South Korean workforce, stated that the gap between the two sides remains too wide to reach an agreement.
Union officials have urged Samsung to present a new offer by July 29, with plans to hold final negotiations through July 31.
Analysts warn that a prolonged strike could exacerbate challenges for Samsung, the world’s leading memory chipmaker, which is already facing stiff competition in the AI semiconductor market.
Samsung, however, maintains that the strike has not disrupted chip production.
