Honeywell announced its fourth acquisition of the year, purchasing Air Products’ liquefied natural-gas (LNG) process technology and equipment business for $1.81 billion in cash.

This acquisition complements Honeywell’s existing LNG pretreatment business by adding technologies like heat exchangers and cryogenic equipment, meeting the growing demand for LNG in sectors such as power and data centers.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts U.S. LNG exports will reach 12.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) in 2024 and 14.3 bcfd in 2025, up from 11.9 bcfd in 2023.

Air Products’ technology, used both onshore and offshore, will enhance Honeywell’s LNG capabilities.

Honeywell CEO Vimal Kapur, who took charge in June 2023, is steering the company towards key trends like automation, the future of aviation, and energy transition.

The acquisition is expected to be accretive to Honeywell’s adjusted earnings per share in the first year of ownership, with analyst Sheila Kahyaoglu estimating a 1% increase in adjusted earnings by 2025.

Honeywell, valued at over $137 billion, provides products, software, and services to various industries, including construction, aerospace, and industrial applications.
