Mrs. Ola William, Managing Director and CEO of Microsoft Nigeria plc, has denied rumors that Microsoft plans to leave Nigeria. She emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting the ICT ecosystem’s sustainable growth in the country during a meeting with the Director General of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Dr. Obiageli Amadiobi.
William praised NOTAP’s efforts in advancing the ICT sector in Nigeria. Dr. Amadiobi, during the same meeting with ICT companies in Lagos, warned that companies failing to submit their technology transfer agreements to NOTAP for evaluation and registration would face severe penalties and prosecution.
Amadiobi highlighted that many companies in Nigeria use imported technologies worth millions of dollars without proper NOTAP registration, which is required by law. This oversight results in significant economic losses for Nigeria.
