Determined to tackle the issue of used tyres littering Lagos, transport and logistics giant APM Terminals has begun recycling its discarded tyres into casual footwear under the “Nothing Goes to Waste” campaign.

Terminal Manager Steen Knudsen emphasized the company’s focus on continuous improvement and sustainable waste repurposing. Collaborating with government-licensed environmental organizations, APM Terminals has started producing eco-friendly flip-flops made from 70 percent recycled tyres, saving at least 7.5KG of CO2 emissions per pair, thus reducing waste and combating climate change.

Felix Chinwe Ugwuagbo, HSE Manager at APM Terminals Apapa, stressed the importance of involving employees in these sustainability efforts, spreading the message of waste recycling to their homes and communities.
