Aiteo resumes production at OML 29 in Bayelsa after oil leak shutdown

Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company (AEEPCO) has resumed production at Oil Mining License (OML 29) in the Nembe swamp field, Bayelsa State, following a shutdown due to an oil leak. The company initially halted operations and deployed an Oil Spill and Emergency Response Team.

After a joint investigative visit by stakeholders, AEEPCO’s Group Managing Director, Victor Okoronkwo, announced the reopening of the facility. Enhanced safety protocols have been implemented to prevent future incidents, and the company is committed to maintaining transparency and accountability.

Due to persistent vandalism, Aiteo has stopped using the Nembe Creek Trunkline to transport oil and now uses barges to convey crude from onshore wells to a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel for export. This method ensures the continued evacuation of crude despite challenges.
