The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the World Bank, and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) have joined forces to promote economic diversification in Nigeria through industrialization and digital trade.
This collaboration was discussed during a meeting hosted by NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, with a delegation led by Aleksandar Stojanov at NITDA’s corporate headquarters in Abuja. The meeting focused on fostering collaboration to enhance digital trade, cross-border data services, and developing regulatory policies to drive economic growth through technological innovation.
Kashifu Inuwa outlined NITDA’s initiatives, including the recrafting of its Strategic Roadmap and Action Plan 2.0 for 2024-2027, which includes eight strategic pillars aimed at strengthening policy implementation and the legal framework for the digital economy. He highlighted ongoing regulatory advancements and mentioned the agency’s progress in establishing a National Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to support electronic signatures.
Inuwa also referred to the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act as a model for addressing software, hardware, and national cybersecurity issues. He expressed NITDA’s commitment to collaboration in refining and implementing strategic initiatives for Nigeria’s digital landscape.
