The Investment and Securities Tribunal (IST) has played a key role in fostering investor confidence in the Nigerian capital market by resolving disputes valued at a staggering N1 trillion since its inception in 2003. This achievement was highlighted by the IST Chairman, Mr. Amos Azi.

The IST offers a significant advantage over traditional courts: speed. Mr. Azi emphasized the Tribunal’s ability to resolve cases within three months, a stark contrast to the lengthy delays often experienced in the broader judicial system. This efficiency is critical for business operations and investor confidence.

Furthermore, the IST prioritizes continuous improvement. Mr. Emmanuel Chukwuorji, Director of Planning Research and Statistics, emphasized the Tribunal’s efforts to enhance investor confidence by ensuring thorough case reviews and rulings that rarely face challenges at the Appeal Court level. Additionally, the IST has implemented electronic filing systems allowing aggrieved parties to submit cases remotely for prompt attention.
