The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), in partnership with Truck Transit Parks Limited (TTP), has initiated the implementation of Electronic tags (E-tags) to enhance cargo delivery and streamline operations at ports. According to Mr. Jama Onwubuariri, Managing Director of TTP, this innovation aims to improve port efficiency and security without any cost burden on truckers.

The introduction of E-tags is expected to address challenges related to non-compliance with Minimum Standard Procedure (MSP) and enhance the electronic call-up scheme’s administration. The decision to deploy E-tag technology was endorsed by the Managing Director of NPA during a stakeholders meeting in Lagos.

TTP has committed to funding the entire project, demonstrating its commitment to investing in digital infrastructure for Nigeria’s ports. This initiative aligns with the objectives of the NPA and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Committee (PEBEC) in driving efficiency and promoting the adoption of advanced technology in the maritime sector.
