African Steel Limited has issued a statement debunking media reports alleging the shutdown of its Ikorodu Steel Factory by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for standards infractions.
According to the statement signed by Director Ravi Sharma and provided to Daily Trust, SON officials visited the African Steel premises as part of their regulatory oversight, undertaking inventory checks and sample collection for further regulatory processes.
The company clarified that its premises in Ikorodu were not shut down by SON officials at any point. Sharma reaffirmed the company’s commitment to upholding the highest standards for its manufactured products and complying with all regulatory requirements.
Engr. Enebi Onucheyo, Director of Product Certification, supported African Steel’s narrative and confirmed that neither the company’s facility nor those of any other steel manufacturer were shut down in the recent regulatory activity by SON in the steel sector.
