The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully dismantled an international drug syndicate operating in Nigeria, South Africa, and Thailand.
The unraveling of the drug cartel commenced with the interception of four large suitcases at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on April 20th. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the first suspect on April 24th, who was attempting to collect suitcases containing Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis from Thailand. Further operations revealed connections to individuals in South Africa.
In another operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted a gas tanker along the Abuja-Abaji highway, discovering 511 sacks of cannabis sativa concealed in the gas tank compartment. Four suspects were arrested in connection with this seizure, and additional arrests were made across various states, resulting in the confiscation of cannabis, codeine syrup, and other illicit substances.
