The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the permits for non-commercial flight licenses of three private jets for engaging in commercial operations. Captain Chris Najomo, the acting Director-General of the NCAA, disclosed this in a statement obtained by The PUNCH on Tuesday. The statement did not specify the names of the operators involved.

According to Najomo, the private operators violated the provisions of their Private Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) permits and Part 9114 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, had previously instructed the NCAA to halt the use of private jets for commercial purposes in 2023. In March 2024, the NCAA warned permit holders against engaging in the carriage of passengers, cargo, or mail for hire and reward.

The NCAA has intensified monitoring of private jet activities at airports across Nigeria. As a result, three private operators were found to be in violation, leading to the suspension of their licenses. Najomo issued a fresh directive requiring all holders of non-commercial flight permits to submit necessary documentation within a strict 72-hour window. Failure to comply within the specified timeframe may result in regulatory action, including permit suspension or revocation.
