Despite the long holiday declared for the Eid-el-Fitri celebration, airports across the country experienced low turnout of passengers, as observed by Daily Trust. Despite the three-day holiday, many flights were only recording between 70-80 percent load factor.

The federal government initially declared Tuesday and Wednesday for the Sallah celebration, but extended the holiday to Thursday after the moon sighting delayed Eid celebrations to Wednesday. Despite this extension, there was a noticeable lack of the usual rush associated with the festive period at airports.

A check at the Murtala Muhammed Airport private terminal (MMA2) showed that there was no significant increase in passenger traffic, indicating a subdued travel activity during the holiday period.
