The Lagos State Government has issued a notice to demolish the $200 million Landmark Beach Resort, citing obstruction to the planned route of a 700-kilometer coastal road connecting Lagos with Calabar.

Proprietor Paul Onwuanibe disclosed this in an interview with CNN, emphasizing the resort’s significant contribution of over N2 billion in taxes annually. The Landmark Beach Resort, a prominent tourism destination in Nigeria, attracted approximately one million local and foreign visitors last year.

Onwuanibe expressed mixed feelings about the demolition notice, highlighting that he acquired the land in 2007, predating the formulation of plans for the coastal highway. He also emphasized the need for compensation due to the substantial investment made in developing the resort.
