Several parts of Lagos experienced palpable tension on Monday as a number of fuel stations were shut down due to supply disruptions.
Areas such as Ikotun, Akonwonjo Egbeda, Igando, and Mowe-Ibafo axis of Ogun State were particularly affected. Mobil filling stations along various roads were observed to be dispensing fuel, but with long queues, indicating high demand among motorists.
Along the Egbeda-Akowonjo axis, only an outlet belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited was dispensing fuel at the time of reporting. Similarly, several fuel stations along the Mowe-Ibafo axis of Ogun State were not selling fuel.
Hammed Fashola, the National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, attributed the disruption in the supply chain to the public holiday and other factors.
