The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has confirmed the escape of Nadeem Anjarwalla, a suspect in the criminal investigation into Binance’s activities in Nigeria. Anjarwalla reportedly fled custody using a smuggled passport, prompting security agencies to collaborate with Interpol for an international arrest warrant.

He escaped from an Abuja guest house where he and a colleague were detained, allegedly during a prayer outing for Ramadan.The federal government has initiated criminal proceedings against Binance, alleging four counts of tax evasion. The charges, including non-payment of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Company Income Tax (CIT), implicate senior executives of the exchange, including Tigran Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla.

The statement from the Special Adviser on Media to the Executive Chairman of FIRS highlights allegations of complicity in aiding customers to evade taxes through the Binance platform.Anjarwalla’s escape adds complexity to the ongoing investigation, sparking an international manhunt as authorities intensify efforts to bring him to justice.
