Tinubu places ban on ministers’ foreign trips

President Bola Tinubu has put a temporary stop to ministers, agency heads, and government officials from going on publicly funded trips abroad. This ban will be in place for three months starting April 1, 2024.

Officials must now get approval from the president at least two weeks before any essential foreign trip.

Tinubu is worried about the increasing costs of these trips and wants officials to focus more on their work. In a letter from his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, Tinubu stressed the need for better management of travel expenses and a stronger commitment to fulfilling government duties.
