Tanker capsizes off coast of Japan, seven deaths confirmed

A South Korean-flagged chemical tanker named Keoyoung Sun has capsized off the coast of Yamaguchi prefecture in western Japan.

According to the Coast Guard, the vessel requested assistance after 0700 local time (2200 GMT), reporting that it was tilting over. The tanker had 11 crew members onboard, and so far, four people have been rescued.

Operations to rescue the remaining crew are currently underway. This was reported by public broadcaster NHK on Wednesday.
