The Chairman of the Special Investigative Committee, Jim Obazee, has reportedly requested N2 billion from the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso, for various assignments.
In a letter obtained exclusively by SaharaReporters, Obazee detailed the allocation of funds, including N750 million for information gathering and vetting, N800 million for surveillance and security, N550 million for logistics and team funding, and N35 million for consumables.
CBN officials, however, expressed concern over the request, questioning its necessity as the apex bank already allocates resources for such activities. The letter raised eyebrows among officials who shared copies with SaharaReporters.
