Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has prohibited the use of Point-of-Sales (POS) and other electronic mobile money transaction devices within police stations nationwide.
The ban comes in response to public concerns over alleged illegal transactions involving POS operators within some police units.
Egbetokun, speaking through police spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that the ban aims to uphold the integrity and security of police operations. It also aims to prevent potential corrupt practices and criminal intrusion, maintaining discipline within the force.
Any command or formation found violating the directive will face severe consequences, as will police officers and POS operators involved in disobeying the order.
