Murtala Ibrahim Gusau, an Abuja-based businessman, responded to the invasion of his warehouse by suspected hoodlums in the Karmo area of Abuja.
The incident, which occurred around 9 am, saw hoodlums, some from the community and others arriving on motorcycles from Gwagwa town, looting hundreds of bagged grains and commodities from his Sabuwar-Unguwa warehouse.
Gusau recounted his efforts to seek help from the Karmo Police Division and local vigilantes, only to find out that law enforcement had left for Gwagwa, where the initial incident began. Despite efforts to intervene, the looters, armed with sticks and machetes, attacked him and other traders, resulting in injuries. Fortunately, the police managed to recover a portion of the stolen goods, including 363 bags of rice, 475 bags of beans, and 1,255 bags of sugar, from households and the vandals’ hideout.
Gusau lamented that the looted food items were intended for Ramadan packages for the less privileged.
