Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has emphasized the need to update the Oronsaye Report before its implementation, citing its obsolescence in light of the proliferation of new agencies and commissions since its commissioning in 2012.
The Oronsaye Report aimed to rationalize and restructure federal government parastatals, commissions, departments, and agencies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
During a discussion on Channels Television, Sani highlighted that the report’s relevance has diminished over time, reflecting the changing landscape of government organizations. He observed that legislators’ performance is often linked to the creation of federal agencies and commissions, resulting in a surge in their numbers.
However, he stressed that this approach does not align with the country’s economic realities.
