NARTO Suspends Nationwide Strike

The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has decided to halt its plans for a nationwide strike and instructed its members to resume operations immediately.

This decision follows a meeting held on Monday between the Federal Government, stakeholders, and tanker drivers, who had ceased operations due to economic challenges.

NARTO members had threatened to shut down operations nationwide in protest against the soaring prices of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel), essential for fueling their trucks transporting petroleum products across Nigeria. Diesel prices, mirroring the surge in Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) prices, have skyrocketed to over N1,250 per litre due to the forex crisis gripping the country.

The suspension of the planned strike signifies a temporary relief for the transportation sector and consumers reliant on the efficient movement of goods across the nation.
