Court Orders FG to Fix Prices of Petrol, motorcycles, Others

A Federal High Court in Lagos has directed the Nigerian government to set prices for essential commodities, including petrol, diesel, kerosene, milk, flour, salt, sugar, bicycles and spare parts, matches, motorcycles and spare parts, motor vehicles and spare parts.

The court, under the purview of Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, issued the order in response to a suit filed by rights activist and lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, against the Price Control Board and the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF.

Justice Lewis-Allagoa’s ruling mandated the government to take action within seven days from February 7, 2024.

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, stated in response that the government will obtain a copy of the court’s judgment and assess it, with a commitment to taking necessary actions in the interest of the masses and the nation.
