Today, British American Tobacco (BAT) (Nigeria) Limited will inaugurate a 1.4MWP grid-tied solar panel system at its Ibadan factory, marking two decades of exceptional value delivery to the Nigerian economy, environment, and communities.
During a press briefing in Lagos, the company’s management announced plans for the factory’s 20th anniversary celebration, emphasizing its significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy. Mr. Yarub Al-Bahrani, the Managing Director for Nigeria and Cluster Manager West and Central Africa, highlighted the factory’s pivotal role since its establishment in 2003, with investments exceeding $185 million.
Efforts to enhance environmental sustainability include significant reductions in energy consumption, water usage, and waste generation. These initiatives have earned recognition for the factory’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Notably, the installation of a 1.4MWP grid-tied solar panel system underscores BAT’s dedication to renewable energy solutions, with the unveiling scheduled for February 6, 2024.
