The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, revealed on Tuesday that the service is due for a salary review.
Adeniyi, speaking in an interview with Arise TV, emphasized that the last salary review occurred five years ago and highlighted the need for a corresponding adjustment in allowances for officers. Stressing the importance of motivating officers, he explained that proper remuneration is crucial to achieving the N5.1tn revenue target set for 2024.
Adeniyi further shared the service’s plans for 2024, outlining initiatives and provisions, to ensure fair practices. He expressed the commitment to implementing these initiatives from the first quarter.
